My first Yu-gi-oh! card review: Black Luster Soldier-Envoy of the Beginning

Black Luster Soldier- Envoy of the Beginning

Attribute: LIGHT
Level: ********
Type: Warrior/effect
ATK/DEF: 3000/2500

Effect: Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard. Once per turn, you can activate 1 of these effects: Target 1 monster on the field; banish that target face-up. This card cannot attack the turn you activate this effect./ During the Damage Step, if this attacking card destroys an opponents monster in battle; It can make a second attack in a row.

Review:

This card is famous since it was first release in Invasion of Chaos as an Ultra rare. It didn't take long until it was banned in the advanced format along with its brother, Chaos Emperor Dragon- Envoy of the End. Recently became unbanned and is now a limited card, Black Luster Soldier has made its way back into various twilight decks. But what makes this card so good? Is it the broken abilities that made him banned in the first place? Who knows, but for all I know, This card had seen a few reprints during its time in the banned list.

The Attack and defense is on par with the other level 8 monsters of its time and still able to deliver punishment to opponents with either sacrificing its ability to attack to banish any monster, or on the chance it destroys a monster in battle it can attack again once per turn. The pricing of this card will be going down by quite a lot since it will be in the upcoming tins, making acquiring this badass much easier.

Rating:

Since this is my first review of a card, I decided on a method of rating system between 1 to ten on various grounds.

Art: it is beautiful how he looks, but on the down side, it is the same black luster soldier that we known through the ritual monster so 7/10
Balance: This card was completely broken during its premier, now it is on par with the other cards so 9/10
rarity: This card has seen a few rarity changes through ultra and secret rares and soon to be super. The pricing of this card hasn't been low ever since and will plummet when the tins come out so 6/10
average score: A gorgeous card with powerful abilities and has a rich history behind it. I was thrilled to pull it from Yugi's World pack and i wouldn't trade it for anything, so the final verdict for Black Luster Soldier- Envoy of the Beginning is 8/10 and deserves the bronze sword of card games. I just wish its art was more unique and not an alternate pose of the Black Luster Soldier. But It doesn't mean that it is terrible, this card is a must have for people who want to build twilight decks.

Until next time, Get your game on and tell me how my first review went and give me some pointers on how to improve it.
